Gangkar Puensum Trek -19 Days - JJ - May-October


Gangkar Puensum Treks takes you along, bamboo forest, and the blue pines. Along the way you will see lot of yak herders' campsite, where we can enjoy the tea and yak curd. It demands energy for the stiff walks up hill, and it is very adventurous with lot of sightings, the likes of rare Himalayan Goose. The beautiful silver fir, Juniper and blue poppy can be seen along the way.

01 ARRIVE PARO (DRUK AIR)
You will be received by our representative

02 PARO
A day trip to Taktsang Gompa, Visit Drugyel Dzong, National Museum and a typical Bhutanese farmhouse

03 PARO-THIMPHU

A day trip to Taktsang Gompa (PARO), Drive to Thimphu
 

04 THIMPHU – WANGDI

Drive to Punakha and Wangdi valley. Panoramic views of Bhutan Mountain range including Bhutan’s highest peak Gangkar Punsum (7500m).
 

05 WANGDI - TONGSA

5-6 hrs drive passing Chendebji Chorten.
 

06 TONGSA – BUMTHANG

explore Tongsa town, Ta Dzong, Tongsa Dzong, Yotongla
 

07 Jakar-Dhur Chock Sum

45 minutes walk through muddy, Bamboo bushes and blue pine forest. With superb views of the valley below, and on the way enjoying the beauties of silver fir, Juniper, Rhododendron and bamboo forest. Campsite at 3200 meters.
 

08 Chock Sum-Lamthang
7-8 hours walk through the bamboo forest, along the way, having lunch with the yak herders, if in time we can also see the beautiful Blue Poppy. Campsite at 4000 meters.
 

09 Lamthang-Tolithang

6-7 hours of walk along the camps of yak herders, with stiff ascend, and stiff climbing too. The pass, at 4700 meters, and if luck could permits, The rare Himalayan Goose can be viewed, with lot of Blue poppy around.
 

10 Tolithang-Tsampa Gongma

Stunning view of Monla Karchung Peaks, camp at 3600 meters.
 

11 Tsampa Gongma-Base Camp

7-8 hours of walk following the Gangkar Chu (River), campsites of yak herders, enjoying the tea and yak curd, with the stunning view of Gangkar Punsum ahead. Camp at 4100 meters.
 

12 Base camp-Shingu

5-7 hours walk, stiff ascend to the ridge opposite Gangkar Punsum. All the three major peaks can be viewed.
 

13 Shingu-Tsampa Woma

Back to Tsampa Woma, camp early.
 

14 Tsampa Woma-Khahthang

10-11 hours of walk, along the river sides, enjoying the songs of birds, and beautiful blue pine forest.
 

15 Khakthang-Jakar

5-6 hours of walk back to Jakar.
 

16 Bumthang-Trongsa

3 hours drive to Trongsa, lunch in Trongsa.
 

17 Trongsa-Wangdi

4 hours drive to Wangdi.
 

18 Wangdi-Thimphu

3 hours drive to Thimphu.
 

19 Thimphu-Paro

Early morning drive to Paro Airport.
