Samtengang Trek -10 Days - JJJ

Samtengang winter trek, also known as the Punakha
trek, is an excellent trek for beginners, taking only about
three to four days and altitudes are low at 1,500 to 2,000
metres, passing through several villages. It takes you through
the village of Limukha along a rhododendron and oak trail. This
is a culture trek passing through the villages of Punakha &
Wangdi region. As the name indicates, this trek is best done
from late autumn and through the winter.

01 ARRIVE PARO (DRUK AIR)

02 PARO SIGHTSEEING
Visit
Drugyel Dzong, National Museum, a typical Bhutanese farmhouse
03 PARO-THIMPHU
A day
trip to Taktsang Gompa (PARO), Drive to Thimphu
04 THIMPHU - PUNAKHA
Sightseeing in Thimphu and then drive to Punakha valley and
visit Punakha Dzong
05 PUNAKHA - LUMUKHA
Trek
begins with the gradual climb through chirpine forest. Alt.
2120m, Distance: 14kms, Time: 5/6 hours
06 LUMUKHA - CHUNGSAKHA
Trail
through Rhododendron and Oak Forested area. Enroute pass a
famous Drukpa Kuenley Lakhang. Alt. 1680m, Distance: 11kms,
Time: 4/5 hours.
07 CHUNGSAKHA-SAMTENGANG
Trek
through the village of Sha Wangdi District. Camp at Samtengang
at lake side.Alt. 1920m Distance: 11kms, Time: 4/5 hours.
08 SAMTENGANG – WANGDI - THIMPHU
Drive
through Wangdi to Thimphu
09 THIMPHU SIGHTSEEING
Tour
around the city, Memorial chorten, National Library, Duthop
lhakhang (nunnery school), Tashichodzong, Handicraft Emporium
and Mask and folk dances.
10 Thimphu - Paro
Drive to
Paro airport for onward flight.
